Changing the Font & Style of Your H1 Tags

QUESTION: (Rhonda) I am having problems changing the font size of my H1text. Is this very important? If so, how do I go about changing it?

Changing the text and/or style of an H1 tag is simple in CSS.  It does not affect anything other than how the visitor sees it though (i.e., if you use a large font, it means nothing more than a smaller font, in SEO terms or how Google sees it).

You can change the H1 tag locally or in the CSS definition file.

If you want to change all of the H1 tag settings in your entire website, you would do this in the CSS file:

h1 {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would use the h1 tag as you normally would:
<h1>This is my H1 tag</h1>

You can define a class in the CSS file which allows you to define your new style whenever you wish anywhere on the site:

.h1style {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would add this class to your h1 tag, when you wish it:

<h1 class=”h1style”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

* Remember to add the “.” when defining it in the CSS to classify it as a class.

Finally, you can do it locally using a style attribute (without the CSS file):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px;”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

All of the above do the exact same thing.  Their use is based on how often you use the style and how you want it defined (whether globally or locally).

Also, remember you can add other styles to the same definition (like color):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px; color:red;”>This is my H1 Tag that is Red and 24px high</h1>

I find that being able to change the styles of my text for header and other standard tags to be quite invaluable!  Knowing a little bit of CSS can go a long way.  Give this a try!

The easiest thing to try first is the local definition using the style attribute. If this is working for you, consider creating or editing your own CSS file!

Good luck!  cheers…matt

Who is Behind Marketing Mind?

Matthew Bredel begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlightingMy name is Matthew Bredel and as of March, 2007, I am a full-time, work-at-home internet marketer. For close to 10 years, I worked for a defense company which was an OK job, but I was so uninspired in life and frankly, I needed some more money. That is when I first discovered internet marketing! Now I admit that I didn't start making thousands in my first couple of months (in fact, I lost my shirt!), but I finally saw the "internet light"...

Many of us go online searching for the holy grail of quick online cash and instant home based business dreams. The truth is that these dreams rarely become a reality. Online success generally involves three components: time, money and experience.

Are you scouring the internet trying to find that one “secret strategy” that will teach you how to start making hundreds if not thousands per month in the next 30 days?

I know some of you are!

First, you write me emails about it and secondly, some of the most popular and highest converting programs and strategies on the internet claim these immediate results.

Let’s lay this all on the table here for a second:

Are these “instant earning claims” real?

Well, by law they *should* be and in most cases, they are.  BUT, many of these testimonials and claims can be misconstrued:

Yes, there are people who take a strategy, and the stars align and presto!, they bring in $1000 in their first 24 hours.  This CAN happen, but usually it is by luck.

Some of these testimonials are from people who have already been successful at doing this in the past.  For example, I personally have run campaigns that have made me over $1000 in a day.  So, it is easy for me to say “Using Mr. X’s Methods, I made $1000 in the first 24 hours!”.  The method may not be unique and the skill of the testimonial may be implied but not stated.

Unfortunately, there are some people who put flat out lies on their websites.  The funny thing is it is usually the smaller players (because they frankly assume that is what others are doing.  Big players know not to do this since it is illegal).

So testimonials don’t necessarily mean much.  Instead, they are baiting the fact that most people want to make money online fast and easily.

Experience:

Experience is worth so much in this industry.  Personally, I can create campaigns now that have a much better chance of making money than when I started.  I can recognize good offers, and I know how to use the internet to its fullest potential.

Money Makes (Faster) Money:

On the internet, time and money are kind of interchangeable.  Most people looking for fast cash don’t have money to invest.  If I want a lot of quality traffic very quickly, I usually have to pay for it using something like Pay-Per-Click.  PPC is great, too, but without experience, you can find yourself sinking very quickly.

Testing:

For most strategies online, proper testing and trialing is usually required to achieve a profitable campaign.  Online testing can be easy to set up and cost virtually nothing to do, but it does take traffic and time to implement.

Longetivity:

If you DO develop a quick online campaign that does start producing immediate income, it is very likely that this income stream will not last long.  So now we need to reproduce what we found success with (and again, most of the time these success stories are luck) or we need to find another way of making money online (which takes us back to either time or money).

See my point here?  Time, money and experience are all interchangeable.  Unfortunately, they are not very compatible.

The concept of Getting Rich Quick Online is NOT a myth, but rather a fairy tale.
