Changing the Font & Style of Your H1 Tags

QUESTION: (Rhonda) I am having problems changing the font size of my H1text. Is this very important? If so, how do I go about changing it?

Changing the text and/or style of an H1 tag is simple in CSS.  It does not affect anything other than how the visitor sees it though (i.e., if you use a large font, it means nothing more than a smaller font, in SEO terms or how Google sees it).

You can change the H1 tag locally or in the CSS definition file.

If you want to change all of the H1 tag settings in your entire website, you would do this in the CSS file:

h1 {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would use the h1 tag as you normally would:
<h1>This is my H1 tag</h1>

You can define a class in the CSS file which allows you to define your new style whenever you wish anywhere on the site:

.h1style {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would add this class to your h1 tag, when you wish it:

<h1 class=”h1style”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

* Remember to add the “.” when defining it in the CSS to classify it as a class.

Finally, you can do it locally using a style attribute (without the CSS file):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px;”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

All of the above do the exact same thing.  Their use is based on how often you use the style and how you want it defined (whether globally or locally).

Also, remember you can add other styles to the same definition (like color):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px; color:red;”>This is my H1 Tag that is Red and 24px high</h1>

I find that being able to change the styles of my text for header and other standard tags to be quite invaluable!  Knowing a little bit of CSS can go a long way.  Give this a try!

The easiest thing to try first is the local definition using the style attribute. If this is working for you, consider creating or editing your own CSS file!

Good luck!  cheers…matt

Who is Behind Marketing Mind?

Matthew Bredel begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlightingMy name is Matthew Bredel and as of March, 2007, I am a full-time, work-at-home internet marketer. For close to 10 years, I worked for a defense company which was an OK job, but I was so uninspired in life and frankly, I needed some more money. That is when I first discovered internet marketing! Now I admit that I didn't start making thousands in my first couple of months (in fact, I lost my shirt!), but I finally saw the "internet light"...

The basic concept of Frank Kern’s Mass Control can essentially be broken down into 5 stages. Here, I define what those five Mass Control stages are and explain to you how each one of these stages compounds on the last resulting in an unbelievable and powerful marketing strategy.

With the new Mass Control 2.0 launch from Frank Kern only a few days away, I felt it was only fair to explain WHAT Mass Control is all about…

…I bought it last year…

…I watched the videos…

…I attended the conference…

…I applied the strategies…

…AND IT WORKED!

So what IS Mass Control?

I like to break it down into 5 Parts:

1) The Character - The product or website should have a character that the visitor can either relate to or confide in as an expert in that field.  This character and what they do should be real, though their true name and identity can be hidden (as a pen name, for example).

2)  The Story - Who is this person and why should we listen to them?  The story can be about them or their character and how they “solved” a conflict or problem (the conflict or problem that the visitor hopefully came to your website to solve).

3)  The Proof - Why should we believe the character and the story?  Proof can be in the form of results, data or testimonials (others providing proof FOR you and/or your character is very powerful).

(Watch Frank Kern’s latest video where he receives “proof” from Tony Robbins and a 13 year old boy who made over $25k in four days…Click Here to watch that video…ingenious!)

4)  The Trust - If you can achieve success with steps 1-3, you are developing trust with your visitor.  This is perhaps the MOST POWERFUL pre-sell that exists in marketing.  If the visitor trusts you, likes you, and has an emotional draw to learn more about you, they are almost willing to buy anything at this point!

5) The Delivery - When it comes time to sell or offer something, does your product meet the expectation?  Sure, you can probably sell almost anything up through step 4, but the secret is to continue to develop trust by providing a good product.  This strengthens trust.  And next product you sell, the buyer is now even MORE inclined to buy from you again.

Now, this may seem pretty logically to some of you, but understanding the structure of this process is only the beginning.  Being able to execute each one of these steps is crucial.  This is what Frank Kern teaches (among many other things) in his Mass Control program.

I personally have restructed a lot of my own marketing strategies around Frank Kern’s Mass Control teachings and it has ultimately created more followers, more buyers and more recurring sales in all of my online businesses.

cheers…matt
