Article Marketing: Quality Vs Quantity

QUESTION: (Anonymous) How do you differentiate a quality article from a quantity article?

This is an interesting question because how do you define a “good quality” article and why would you strive to create a bad one?

When I think of “Quality Article”, I am referring to an article that its purpose is to entice readers, create followers, and provide the reader unbelievable content.  I usually personally write these articles or I may pay a well-established (usually pricey) writer to do it for me.  These types of articles I usually put on my own websites as well as places where my name and my authority may be recognized (like eZineArticles, Twitter, Facebook, etc.).

Now the “Quantity Article” is usually done for the sole purpose of creating backlinks.   These DO need to be readible and usually the quality is not too bad.  Still, I usually would pay a lower priced author to write these types of articles and I may even go the extra step of “spinning” the article.  The can produce a lot of unique articles (and hopefully good backlinks) without the cost.

In fact, I usually have the “Quantity Articles” linking back to the “Quality Articles”, among other things.  It is just good SEO and Social Media Practice.

Who is Behind Marketing Mind?

Matthew BredelMy name is Matthew Bredel and as of March, 2007, I am a full-time, work-at-home internet marketer. For close to 10 years, I worked for a defense company which was an OK job, but I was so uninspired in life and frankly, I needed some more money. That is when I first discovered internet marketing! Now I admit that I didn't start making thousands in my first couple of months (in fact, I lost my shirt!), but I finally saw the "internet light"...

I find this a fair question because I have spent a bit of time explaining what a middleman is and why to avoid them (specifically, my post “The Evil Middleman”).

At the same time, I actually recommend Doba on TheWebReviewer as a good product sourcing company (see Doba Review).

“Is Doba a Middleman?”

I find this a fair question because I have spent a bit of time explaining what a middleman is and why to avoid them (specifically, my post “The Evil Middleman“).

At the same time, I actually recommend Doba on TheWebReviewer as a good product sourcing company (see Doba Review).

Am I contradicting myself here?

Yes and no. Let me explain how Doba differs from other middleman.

What makes Doba a middleman:

  • They act as a go-between the buyer and seller
  • Their prices may be slightly inflated versus a true dropshipper
  • You do not need a resellers license to buy from them

But what makes Doba different:

  • Many of their supplier sources are exclusive to Doba (therefore, they are acting as distributors rather than middlemen)
  • All purchases are made directly within the Doba site:  There is no need to negotiate or communicate with multiple suppliers…it is all done within the Doba portal.   (And it is SUPER EASY, too…like buying products on Amazon, but the ship-to address is your customer)
  • This is not a directory of other sites.  All of the products are within Doba

So why should you still pay a slight premium for products?

My suggestion for those starting off (or even experienced) in selling physical products online is to keep it simple at the beginning.  Understand your market first and see if you CAN sell a product even at no profit or even loss.

The amount of time, effort and money to source out multiple products (especially during your testing phase) can rather costly.  Finding the “true dropshippers” at this stage can be a bit of work and at the end, this product or niche may not even be right for you or your market.

Doba makes the testing phase very easy.

  • No need to get a new resellers license to test a new product.
  • No need to find and manage multiple suppliers.

Now after the test, you may find your product to sell.  This is where you may want to find a true drop shipper (or even wholesaler) for your products (Worldwide Brands is an ideal place to source these products!).

Still, if you CAN make Doba products profitable in your niche, you even may want to stick with them (even with the higher costs) because managing it will be extremely simple.

One Response to “Is Doba a Middleman?”

  1. Ny thought on Doba is one can do well with them. But it is absolutely imperitive to DO your Homework. By that I mean market research. What is that item selling for on eBay that you are thinking of? Is it selling? Who else is selling it?

I think OneSource is the best wholesale source, including dropshippers and its a one time fee. Doba is better than Saleho in my opinion.
