Changing the Font & Style of Your H1 Tags

QUESTION: (Rhonda) I am having problems changing the font size of my H1text. Is this very important? If so, how do I go about changing it?

Changing the text and/or style of an H1 tag is simple in CSS.  It does not affect anything other than how the visitor sees it though (i.e., if you use a large font, it means nothing more than a smaller font, in SEO terms or how Google sees it).

You can change the H1 tag locally or in the CSS definition file.

If you want to change all of the H1 tag settings in your entire website, you would do this in the CSS file:

h1 {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would use the h1 tag as you normally would:
<h1>This is my H1 tag</h1>

You can define a class in the CSS file which allows you to define your new style whenever you wish anywhere on the site:

.h1style {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would add this class to your h1 tag, when you wish it:

<h1 class=”h1style”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

* Remember to add the “.” when defining it in the CSS to classify it as a class.

Finally, you can do it locally using a style attribute (without the CSS file):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px;”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

All of the above do the exact same thing.  Their use is based on how often you use the style and how you want it defined (whether globally or locally).

Also, remember you can add other styles to the same definition (like color):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px; color:red;”>This is my H1 Tag that is Red and 24px high</h1>

I find that being able to change the styles of my text for header and other standard tags to be quite invaluable!  Knowing a little bit of CSS can go a long way.  Give this a try!

The easiest thing to try first is the local definition using the style attribute. If this is working for you, consider creating or editing your own CSS file!

Good luck!  cheers…matt

Who is Behind Marketing Mind?

Matthew Bredel begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlightingMy name is Matthew Bredel and as of March, 2007, I am a full-time, work-at-home internet marketer. For close to 10 years, I worked for a defense company which was an OK job, but I was so uninspired in life and frankly, I needed some more money. That is when I first discovered internet marketing! Now I admit that I didn't start making thousands in my first couple of months (in fact, I lost my shirt!), but I finally saw the "internet light"...

Auction Genius by Sydney JohnstonIn my last post, I talked about Women in Internet Marketing. Today, I’m looking at the Sydney Johnston’s product: Auction Genius.  People still look to eBay when they want to buy something online.  Yet, a lot of budding internet marketers are afraid to open an eBay store, thinking they’re just a little fish in a giant pond and that they can’t possibly compete with the eBay powersellers.
If you look at eBay today, you’ll see that there seem to be more online stores than individuals selling there.  The truth is that it’s more like a global shopping mall than the flea market it started out to be.  The great thing about that is that there’s a lot of room for growth and yes, there is a lot of room for newbies to make money there.  Products like Sydney Johnston’s top selling Auction Genius can teach them and programs like Auction Leads Machine even teaches people how to sell affiliate products on eBay.
Some think they can figure eBay out simply by reading everything in the help section.  That’s important but there’s a lot more to the science behind making money on auction sites. Beyond simply setting up a dropshipping store on eBay you’ll want to take your time to learn the ropes and do some extensive research before getting started. There’s a lot to it and beyond learning how to manage your account, upload pictures and determine how the fee structure works, you’ll also want to learn:

  1. What products are in demand?
  2. How to get the best suppliers for those products so you can maximize your profit margin potential
  3. How to market your store (if you imagine the shopping mall, think about the window dressing!)
  4. How to manage your customer relationships so they’ll come back and tell their friends

Learning all these things can help you be a real contender and get a piece of that delectable pie that so many are feasting off of.  Running an eBay store like a business is the best way to make it a business instead of a sideline that just brings in a bit of spare change.

It’s definitely not over saturated when you consider the fact that many who are surfing that site have their computer mouse in one hand and their credit card in the other. The secret is, setting up your auction store so that it stands apart in the crowd and from everything I’ve read, Sydney Johnston’s courses teach you those secrets. There are a lot of people setting up their own online stores on their own sites.  That can be very lucrative. Here are Five Reasons To Set Up Your Online Store on eBay.

Cheers,

Dana
