Changing the Font & Style of Your H1 Tags

QUESTION: (Rhonda) I am having problems changing the font size of my H1text. Is this very important? If so, how do I go about changing it?

Changing the text and/or style of an H1 tag is simple in CSS.  It does not affect anything other than how the visitor sees it though (i.e., if you use a large font, it means nothing more than a smaller font, in SEO terms or how Google sees it).

You can change the H1 tag locally or in the CSS definition file.

If you want to change all of the H1 tag settings in your entire website, you would do this in the CSS file:

h1 {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would use the h1 tag as you normally would:
<h1>This is my H1 tag</h1>

You can define a class in the CSS file which allows you to define your new style whenever you wish anywhere on the site:

.h1style {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would add this class to your h1 tag, when you wish it:

<h1 class=”h1style”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

* Remember to add the “.” when defining it in the CSS to classify it as a class.

Finally, you can do it locally using a style attribute (without the CSS file):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px;”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

All of the above do the exact same thing.  Their use is based on how often you use the style and how you want it defined (whether globally or locally).

Also, remember you can add other styles to the same definition (like color):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px; color:red;”>This is my H1 Tag that is Red and 24px high</h1>

I find that being able to change the styles of my text for header and other standard tags to be quite invaluable!  Knowing a little bit of CSS can go a long way.  Give this a try!

The easiest thing to try first is the local definition using the style attribute. If this is working for you, consider creating or editing your own CSS file!

Good luck!  cheers…matt

Who is Behind Marketing Mind?

Matthew Bredel begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlightingMy name is Matthew Bredel and as of March, 2007, I am a full-time, work-at-home internet marketer. For close to 10 years, I worked for a defense company which was an OK job, but I was so uninspired in life and frankly, I needed some more money. That is when I first discovered internet marketing! Now I admit that I didn't start making thousands in my first couple of months (in fact, I lost my shirt!), but I finally saw the "internet light"...

Back in February, I attended a conference where Brad Fallon announced the pre-release of a new website called FreeIQ. Product announcements usually don’t wow me too much any more, but one thing I have learned is that when Brad Fallon talks, you should listen. So I stuck around.

So what is FreeIQ all about? Well, is a mix of instruction, YouTube and affiliate marketing. Consider a forum where you can make and produce instructional videos and put them into a high traffic environment for free. That is good! Placement of these videos within the internal search engine or categories are based on viewer feedback. Quality control. That is good! What if you are looking to find information about blogging, or how to make orgami ducks, or the best way to perform a handstand? Search their database and see if the video is there! Some videos are free, some you pay for (the web is currently an information economy!). So great, you can put videos on FreeIQ or you can watch videos (either for free for a fee), but what does this have to do with affiliate marketing?

EVERYTHING! Yes, joining up for FreeIQ is free. Posting videos is free! If you post a video and you want to charge someone for it, FreeIQ will do it (and manage all of the shopping carts and purchases!). But from the affiliate marketing standpoint, this is where I became rather intrigued! If you don’t want to make videos, just refer them traffic. Once someone joins FreeIQ (for free) from you, you are now locked in as their affiliate. From this point on, all purchases they make, you take a cut. Further, this is two-tiered, meaning that if the person that you referred refers someone else, you will get another piece of the purchases.

Some people are calling this the Clickbank of Web 2.0, but really, this is so much more and better than Clickbank. From a marketing point of view, it is a hell of a lot easier to market (you are not trying to sell a product, rather a free membership). Secondly, the quality of products are going to be higher (making for more purchases and higher conversions). Third, the two tiered system provides a lot more opportunities for residual income. Greater than one year cookies are fantastic, too.

I’ve been an successful affiliate marketer now for over a year and I have seen my share of affiliate programs and systems. This one is really meant with the affiliate marketer in mind. I don’t think you can ask for anything more. People ask me: “What is the future of affiliate marketing” and “what is the next big thing for making money online?”. Here you go! Handed to you on a platter! This is where I am beginning to focus some of my attention and if you are at all interested in making money yourself, go check out FreeIQ for free right now: Click Here!

Also, if you are just looking for a whole lot of quality information in the form of videos just to learn, check it out, too (that is what it is there for!). I am really excited about all of this. You should be, too!
