Changing the Font & Style of Your H1 Tags

QUESTION: (Rhonda) I am having problems changing the font size of my H1text. Is this very important? If so, how do I go about changing it?

Changing the text and/or style of an H1 tag is simple in CSS.  It does not affect anything other than how the visitor sees it though (i.e., if you use a large font, it means nothing more than a smaller font, in SEO terms or how Google sees it).

You can change the H1 tag locally or in the CSS definition file.

If you want to change all of the H1 tag settings in your entire website, you would do this in the CSS file:

h1 {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would use the h1 tag as you normally would:
<h1>This is my H1 tag</h1>

You can define a class in the CSS file which allows you to define your new style whenever you wish anywhere on the site:

.h1style {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would add this class to your h1 tag, when you wish it:

<h1 class=”h1style”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

* Remember to add the “.” when defining it in the CSS to classify it as a class.

Finally, you can do it locally using a style attribute (without the CSS file):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px;”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

All of the above do the exact same thing.  Their use is based on how often you use the style and how you want it defined (whether globally or locally).

Also, remember you can add other styles to the same definition (like color):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px; color:red;”>This is my H1 Tag that is Red and 24px high</h1>

I find that being able to change the styles of my text for header and other standard tags to be quite invaluable!  Knowing a little bit of CSS can go a long way.  Give this a try!

The easiest thing to try first is the local definition using the style attribute. If this is working for you, consider creating or editing your own CSS file!

Good luck!  cheers…matt

Matthew Bredel begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlightingMy name is Matthew Bredel and as of March, 2007, I am a full-time, work-at-home internet marketer. For close to 10 years, I worked for a defense company which was an OK job, but I was so uninspired in life and frankly, I needed some more money. That is when I first discovered internet marketing! Now I admit that I didn't start making thousands in my first couple of months (in fact, I lost my shirt!), but I finally saw the "internet light"...

Have you heard about CPA Networks? Much to my surprise it has nothing to do with certified public accountants! While it’s no doubt many veteran Internet marketers are familiar with this type of marketing, it is new to me and perhaps to other newbies in the online business world.

Also known as cost-per-action or cost-per-acquisition, CPA is a method of advertising in which you, as a merchant or website owner, only pay when your advertising is successful, meaning your site visitor takes a desired action. The action might be downloading something from your site, signing up for a newsletter or purchasing a product. What you aren’t doing is just paying for pointless clicks.

It is alarming how many new Internet marketers get swamped with advertising fees and pay-per-click campaign costs only to find themselves in the hole. Not a good feeling. In fact, it can be down right discouraging. And it isn’t unheard of for new marketers to leave the industry all together when they can’t seem to reap the rewards of their advertising dollars. This is where CPA can be the light at the end of the tunnel.

Because CPA marketing is performance based, the affiliate webmasters (or publishers) know they will only see the dollars if they make the advertising lucrative for you. So if they do their job well and advertise your product or service effectively, they benefit too. It’s really a win-win situation for both parties involved.

Even Internet marketers who have very little money to put into advertising can find a way to get their businesses noticed through advertising with a CPA network. Rather than scraping together pennies or going into debt to pay for advertising that may or may not work, they can go with a CPA network to ensure that they only pay when they know their business is benefiting through desired customer action.

Joining a CPA affiliate marketing network is the first step to utilizing this type of marketing method. The network will actually serve as a liaison between the merchant and affiliate webmaster, ensuring the right ads are in place on the right websites.

It pays to be choosy and research a network well before joining. There are many different types of networks out there, so try to find former or current network members who can share their reviews with you. Additionally, learn all you can about the types of members the network accepts and the qualifications they require of members.

Ideally, you will join a network with high quality members who do great business and have excellent products and services. It is only going to improve your reputation and chances for success in the network.

Whether you are looking for advertising methods for your affiliate marketing product or an e-commerce product, it makes sense to take a look at what CPA networks have to offer. They provide a budget-friendly and potentially lucrative way to boost your business and get you on the path to the success you envision for your online company.
