Changing the Font & Style of Your H1 Tags

QUESTION: (Rhonda) I am having problems changing the font size of my H1text. Is this very important? If so, how do I go about changing it?

Changing the text and/or style of an H1 tag is simple in CSS.  It does not affect anything other than how the visitor sees it though (i.e., if you use a large font, it means nothing more than a smaller font, in SEO terms or how Google sees it).

You can change the H1 tag locally or in the CSS definition file.

If you want to change all of the H1 tag settings in your entire website, you would do this in the CSS file:

h1 {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would use the h1 tag as you normally would:
<h1>This is my H1 tag</h1>

You can define a class in the CSS file which allows you to define your new style whenever you wish anywhere on the site:

.h1style {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would add this class to your h1 tag, when you wish it:

<h1 class=”h1style”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

* Remember to add the “.” when defining it in the CSS to classify it as a class.

Finally, you can do it locally using a style attribute (without the CSS file):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px;”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

All of the above do the exact same thing.  Their use is based on how often you use the style and how you want it defined (whether globally or locally).

Also, remember you can add other styles to the same definition (like color):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px; color:red;”>This is my H1 Tag that is Red and 24px high</h1>

I find that being able to change the styles of my text for header and other standard tags to be quite invaluable!  Knowing a little bit of CSS can go a long way.  Give this a try!

The easiest thing to try first is the local definition using the style attribute. If this is working for you, consider creating or editing your own CSS file!

Good luck!  cheers…matt

Who is Behind Marketing Mind?

Matthew Bredel begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlightingMy name is Matthew Bredel and as of March, 2007, I am a full-time, work-at-home internet marketer. For close to 10 years, I worked for a defense company which was an OK job, but I was so uninspired in life and frankly, I needed some more money. That is when I first discovered internet marketing! Now I admit that I didn't start making thousands in my first couple of months (in fact, I lost my shirt!), but I finally saw the "internet light"...

Is PayPal safe for internet marketers to use? I’ve read horror stories about internet marketers doing a huge product launch that’s a smashing success only to have their PayPal account frozen before they get hold of their money. There are even websites dedicated to those with a hate on for PayPal due to account freezes and chargebacks.

If your account gets flagged as “suspicious activity” and is frozen it can take up to six months for you to access your funds. It’s something that could be a nightmare for you! Not only could you be waiting for your hard earned money but if you have affiliates, how will you pay out your commission to them? It could not only cripple you financially but could crush your reputation, too.

PayPal Problem Prevention

Some suggest that if you do a big launch that you’re expecting will net you some great results that you talk to PayPal first in order to intercept any potential problems. If they can anticipate how you’ll manage things, this can prevent undue freezes.  PayPal doesn’t want money laundering or fraudulent activity going through their system for many reasons including potential for chargebacks after you’ve already withdrawn that boat load of cash so its best to talk to them first. There could be something on your landing page that makes them nervous or something even in your domain name that frightens them and makes  the red tape seem endless. Advanced preparation can prevent these misunderstandings and get you instant access to your money.

Alternatives to PayPal

There are merchant account programs as well such as e-online Data and Powerpay but setting up a merchant account for your business could take a lot of paperwork and effort. The choice is yours and you may elect to put your golden eggs in multiple baskets.

If you’re selling a digital project such as a membership, software or an e-book, another option would be to run your digital product sales through ClickBank who not only accepts PayPal as a payment option from your customers (which is a bonus!) but who will also send you a cheque if that’s what you want. Be aware though, that  ClickBank will also hold a specified amount of funds in an allowance account depending on your record with them, the amount and the perceived risk. They want to protect themselves from not just suspicious behavior but also don’t want to risk a bunch of returns happening and your not paying up.

All in all, PayPal is a pretty safe bet for your online business and has become the industry standard for getting money quickly. Doing some due diligence before putting large amounts of money through PayPal could be wise.

  4. if you do business on paypal, most liekly at some point, it will be you…

    This is me right now…

    January 29 to current:

    I sold a series of products on ebay during january. 150 to be exact All were paid for, and almost all left positive feedback. Almost all, meaning, some haven’t left feedback yet. But feedback is 100%, with perfect sales ratio’s, because “all” my customers are happy. After the sales cycle finished, Paypal froze my account and ALL monies in the account. They demanded copies of my invoices and inventories. I provided what they asked for. – After this, they then started asking for contracts and agreements between my vendor and their wholesaler. This is not legal to ask, and they are requiring the impossible, knowing full well I cannot provide that legally. It is a trap, so they don’t have to release my funds of $2,453.89. They are threatening to hold onto my money for 180 days (6 months), by requiring me to commit criminal activities, to receive the moneys that is already mine, not theirs. I sent them an official letter asking them to release my monies, or I would pursue legal actions, including complaints. They responded by saying “Go Ahead”, we’re still going to hold “your” money for 180 days (6 months). They (paypal staff) are fully aware they asked me to commit crimes, but do not care, since I am not legally able to record “their” phone conversation asking me to do so.

    Update for today: Many of my customers have contacted paypal and said everything is genuine, no problems, nothing. Paypal has told most of them it is none of their business or lied and said my account isn’t even frozen…. But, today, I also got a final DENIED, we’re going to hold you funds for 180 days, but you can provide refunds if you like….

    Welcome to paypal….. don’t get sucked in, because if you have a balance that is a large sum like that, they WILL get you….. Release date of my money: June 29, 2010…. There is no just in case anymore…. These people need jailed….

  5. I dispise Ebay! They have way too many charges. Put me out of business. When they first opened, I did twenty thousand a month with them. Today, fees are so high, I choose to sell on free listing sites now like GoodForge.com and some of the other freebies. Ebay lost my sales totally!

  6. Hello, i believe that i saw you visited my site thus i got here to return the desire?.I’m attempting to to find things to enhance my web site!I suppose its ok to make use of some of your ideas!!

  7. Great items from you, man. I have consider your stuff prior to and you are simply extremely wonderful. I really like what you’ve obtained here, certainly like what you’re saying and the best way wherein you assert it. You make it entertaining and you continue to take care of to keep it sensible. I can’t wait to learn much more from you. That is really a wonderful web site.
