Changing the Font & Style of Your H1 Tags

QUESTION: (Rhonda) I am having problems changing the font size of my H1text. Is this very important? If so, how do I go about changing it?

Changing the text and/or style of an H1 tag is simple in CSS.  It does not affect anything other than how the visitor sees it though (i.e., if you use a large font, it means nothing more than a smaller font, in SEO terms or how Google sees it).

You can change the H1 tag locally or in the CSS definition file.

If you want to change all of the H1 tag settings in your entire website, you would do this in the CSS file:

h1 {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would use the h1 tag as you normally would:
<h1>This is my H1 tag</h1>

You can define a class in the CSS file which allows you to define your new style whenever you wish anywhere on the site:

.h1style {
font-size: 24px;
}

You would add this class to your h1 tag, when you wish it:

<h1 class=”h1style”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

* Remember to add the “.” when defining it in the CSS to classify it as a class.

Finally, you can do it locally using a style attribute (without the CSS file):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px;”>This is my H1 Tag</h1>

All of the above do the exact same thing.  Their use is based on how often you use the style and how you want it defined (whether globally or locally).

Also, remember you can add other styles to the same definition (like color):

<h1 style=”font-size:24px; color:red;”>This is my H1 Tag that is Red and 24px high</h1>

I find that being able to change the styles of my text for header and other standard tags to be quite invaluable!  Knowing a little bit of CSS can go a long way.  Give this a try!

The easiest thing to try first is the local definition using the style attribute. If this is working for you, consider creating or editing your own CSS file!

Good luck!  cheers…matt

Who is Behind Marketing Mind?

Matthew Bredel begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlightingMy name is Matthew Bredel and as of March, 2007, I am a full-time, work-at-home internet marketer. For close to 10 years, I worked for a defense company which was an OK job, but I was so uninspired in life and frankly, I needed some more money. That is when I first discovered internet marketing! Now I admit that I didn't start making thousands in my first couple of months (in fact, I lost my shirt!), but I finally saw the "internet light"...

What is the best way to make money online? Good question! This is a question with many answers depending on multiple factors. The best thing you can do to find out is to do lots of research on the topic.

This article explores some of the ways you can assimilate information so that you’re well equipped to decide when a program is worth investing in.

Online Internet Marketing Information Sources

There are a lot of online money making opportunities and many people are interested in finding out which program is the surest, easiest and most profitable bet. There are programs out there that are inexpensive like the Rich Jerk and there are more expensive programs such as the Super Affiliate Handbook. Purchasing one of these books doesn’t guarantee you online success but it’s a smart idea to learn as much as you can about affiliate marketing so that you have the knowledge to go out there and learn about the many ways people are making money online.

Free and Fee Based Information Availability

You’ll find that there is a lot of free information as well that can help you significantly. A lot of successful online entrepreneurs got started reading all the free information that was available which is what helped them learn how to move forward and make money online.

Many of them pay it forward with free reports, blogs and articles all over the internet. The free stuff is a great place to start and can help you figure out where you might go when you’re ready to invest a bit of cash to take your internet marketing career to the next level.

Online Community Forums: Information Goldmines

Beyond the free information and membership sites, it’s also a great idea to hang out in marketing forums. In places like these, people talk about what’s available, what has worked for them and what they’ve done. You’ll find a wealth of free information in places like the Warrior Forum and Site Point along with others as well.

Look Before You Leap

What is most important in your quest to make money online is that you look before you leap. When you dive into foreign oceans instead of a stream you’re already familiar with, that’s when you run the risk of drowning. Use the giving and generous online community to help you dip your toe into uncharted territories first.

One of the best things about online communities is the willingness to share information from others who have been in your shoes or are walking the same path as you right now. Reading reviews of products, getting information and asking others what their experience has been is going to help you. Find a mentor (or two or three) to follow and that can help you immensely.

Investing In Your Future

Whether you go with something low priced like the Rich Jerk, something higher priced like StomperNet or somewhere in between, spending some time learning about what’s available as well as reading as much free information as you can get your typing fingers upon is going to make a big difference to how soon you’ll be making a profit.
