Go to any guru and ask them what you need to do to grow your business and they will tell you: OUTSOURCE. The ultimate business model, right? You manage other people to do the work and at the end of the day, you don’t do much of everything while everyone else is making money [...]
Yes, this is the goal of business and this is how people get wealthy…VERY WEALTHY!
There are two problems that people face with outsourcing, though. They either do it too soon or not soon enough. For me personally, I screwed this one up on both sides!
Can you outsource your tasks too soon?
Of course! When I first joined StomperNet, I was told that I needed to start outsourcing virtually everything. So I went out, found people to do the “tasks I needed done” and paid them to do it. Two problems here:
1) I really did not have the money to do this
2) I really did not understand the tasks myself
Long story short: I paid a lot of people a lot of money and got very little in return.
So I went back to doing everything myself. That is great…to a point. Unfortunately that point was about 6 months ago for me. Now I find myself managing the silly, trivial tasks of my business (like customer service, accounting, fulfillment, etc.) rather than the tasks that will really make me money. I should have recognized this sooner, but now I find myself investing the time to train others to handle these tasks. I will lose a couple of months of productivity (yet again), but this will put me back into position to continue growing my business.

My name is Matthew Bredel and as of March, 2007, I am a full-time, work-at-home internet marketer.
For close to 10 years, I worked for a defense company which was an OK job, but I was so uninspired in life and frankly, I needed some more money. That is when I first discovered internet marketing! Now I admit that I didn't start making thousands in my first couple of months (in fact, I lost my shirt!), but I finally saw the "internet light"...
Hi Mathew,
I always feel so bad for entrepreneurs when I hear this kind of story. Cause I did it too! Here is the thing though…it really is never too early to start delegate and outsource if you know HOW to do it.
We all make the same mistakes — someone says, “get those non-money making tasks off your plate” and so we go hire someone overseas or a VA and thousands of dollars later…we are broke, frustrated and fearful of delegating.
I’d just like to through out the idea that it might be valuable to explore the skill of delegating so you hire the best people for the roles and have really good strategies of how to hand off the tasks you want others to do for you.
Once I learned how to do that part my delegation strategy paid off in an extra $300k per year.
So I hope you won’t give up on delegating! It really does work (my clients are living proof). You just have to learn HOW to do it so you get the results you want and make more money.
Here is a free report I wrote if you think it might help on 101 Ways to Triple Your Income and Double Your Time Off with Delegating.

Great topic of discussion. As a writer who writes a lot for internet marketers, many who come to me don’t know exactly what they want. They know they want to write content for their sites or blogs or articles for directories but know very little about SEO and don’t take the time to define their target audience.
The people who come to me with a bit of experience and who have a plan and a strategy generally become repeat clients for me because they know what they want me to write for them and because they come back, it tells me that what they’re doing is actually working.
Great advice!
