More energy, but positive energy? I don’t know!I sat in on a presentation from Jay Berkowitz (from TenGoldenRules.com) talking about Web 2.0. I now have TONS of great ideas for new content and videos I want to do now, but there was one question from the audience that practically received a standing ovation:”Why is eBay securing its websites and auctions more severely in recent times while the current trends of Web 2.0 is pointing the opposite direction?”
What they are referring to is the trend of social marketing your name and your brand, but eBay is now enforcing strict rules about not allowing any links or even email address to appears on auctions.
We are taught here (by a lot of the presenters) that social marketing and branding yourself and your product is essential in the current online environment (and I TOTALLY agree). How do you do this if eBay locks down the potential of any external dialog and social interaction with your potential buyers?
They did not answer the question in the seminar, but to eBay’s credit, there are quite a few developing widgets and add-ons available that may not necessarily address the desire to connect with the current major social networks, but they can satisfy some of the social marketing needs (on eBay’s terms, of course).
One other question that I have been trying to solve is the difference between the eBay Partner Network vs the eBay Stores Referral program. I asked the question, but so far no one can answer it…I am having a “3-way” discussion with the two programs in about an hour. A full report this weekend!
Oh! I see more pins being handed out…I gotta run! cheers…matt

My name is Matthew Bredel and as of March, 2007, I am a full-time, work-at-home internet marketer.
For close to 10 years, I worked for a defense company which was an OK job, but I was so uninspired in life and frankly, I needed some more money. That is when I first discovered internet marketing! Now I admit that I didn't start making thousands in my first couple of months (in fact, I lost my shirt!), but I finally saw the "internet light"...
