If you’re looking to make money online in online jobs such as data entry or freelance writing it won’t take too long to notice that there are competitors vying for the same jobs you want but who are willing to do it for much less than what you’d consider a working wage.
There are many companies sourcing overseas to countries like India where English is not the native language. While language seems like a barrier, there is no shortage of people willing to do clerical freelance jobs or data entry programs for what seems like peanuts compared to local wages.
Warning to marketers: If you’re an internet marketer, it might be tempting to hire people from other countries to do your data entry work or your article writing but you need to be very aware that it can be difficult to find good quality when you’re not dealing with a native speaker of the language. While the rates may appear to make outsourcing overseas an attractive proposition, the quality might not be what you’re expecting and this won’t help you make your business more profitable. It makes sense to hire the right person for the job in terms of overall return on investment.
Warning to freelancers: From the other side, if you’re looking to make money through data entry programs or through freelance writing for the web, you might notice that there is a lot of stiff competition for entry level jobs in these areas as there are many outsourcing services listed at rates that are well below what you might expect to do the work for. While many people looking to make money online look for easy programs like data entry programs, they quickly realize that a) there are a lot of scams to watch out for and b) the rates offered are often not something you can make a viable income from when outsourcing frequently happens.
A lot of type at home program info or offers to help people earn from home are for sale. It’s always a good idea to research in depth to find out what the offer entails, what the guarantees are and what the company advertising the product or service is about. There really are no get rich quick schemes on the internet that aren’t scams, in reality. Anything that has potential for earning power will require some work, expertise and effort. Type at home scams are rampant so be cautious when considering signing up for or purchasing a program.
While there are many ways to earn an income from home, there are a lot of scams to watch out for for those looking to outsource their easy work as well as those looking to perform work. Many people looking for entry level jobs for telecommuters like data entry quickly realize that there’s a lot of competition out there and that they cannot possibly earn the thousands a month suggested as the potential from companies looking to sell you something. Building your expertise in niche areas and learning about internet marketing are better ways to find ways to earn an income online. Because entry level positions can so easily be filled for cheap, better to look for a tighter niche for yourself.
Businesses looking to hire writers or data entry clerks need to look for the perfect balance of quality and cost effectiveness and those looking to make a living by doing work from home need to research the industry and figure out what the going rate for services are. Because entry level jobs can be completed for low pay through countries like India, those looking to earn an income online should consider investing in learning the skills to help them acquire careers that require intermediate to advanced skills. For those who have low end work they need completed via outsourcing, India can be a good option if you find a company or individual with a strong command of the English language. Looking for higher end output will very likely require you pay higher rates because in most cases you do indeed get what you pay for.

Don't Buy Another Money Making Product Until You Watch These FREE Videos! |
My name is Matthew Bredel and as of March, 2007, I am a full-time, work-at-home internet marketer.
For close to 10 years, I worked for a defense company which was an OK job, but I was so uninspired in life and frankly, I needed some more money. That is when I first discovered internet marketing! Now I admit that I didn't start making thousands in my first couple of months (in fact, I lost my shirt!), but I finally saw the "internet light"...

Hi, I stumbled upon your article and it’s absolutely true. I am registered as a freelancer in 4 different sites..one of them is Guru which I just sent an email to yesterday with this exact concern even though I know that there is nothing they can do about it. After 4 months of placing bid after bid I have not had the chance to work on a single project even though I am very well qualified and my hourly rate is not bad at all ($9.00 p/h). How are we supposed to compete with other freelancers that charge as low as $2.00 or $3.00 an hour? I don’t mean to demean anyone…that is not my intention. But it does get a little frustrating for a stay at home mom trying to earn a little income and where the cost of living is in no way the same as overseas. Any suggestions?

In my opinion, many buyers who pay for low quality articles soon go looking for more experienced writers when they realize they’ve wasted the money they’ve spent. I have seen many qualified English speaking writers in overseas countries too so I’m not saying you cannot find good English quality outside of the UK or North America. I do often get hired to help clients sort out poorly written projects and they come to realize it’s better to pay for higher quality once than face delays, frustration and pay twice because you’ve chosen the cheap route the first time around.
My suggestion is to look for other ways of getting work beyond the bidding sites which seem to be famous for low paying work with stiff competition. Look to classified networks and freelance writing job sites as well as Craigslist and writing forums. Networking with other writers has gotten me some of my best leads for lucrative work. It’s also a good idea to create your own professional website that showcases your work and then learn SEO to bring clients to you.
Best of luck and thanks for commenting!

In the case where you would have to spend more on on outsourcing , it would be more effective to hire someone personally , so that the focus can be maintained .Great article though.

Its true that there is a lot of quantity out there and quality will always come for a price. But having said that, we all need to keep in mind that we are in a global market now, and we all need to stay competitive. The best strategy is to get the foot in the door of good clients with regular work and give them something that keeps them hooked to you. After demonstrating your capability it gets easier to command a special rate.
